About Jenna

Skunk Cabbage is Jenna's debut novel, but the ideas won't seem to stop, so expect many more. She has been writing since she first could form letters with her crayons, both as a creative and a therapeutic outlet. While her Google drive is full of the beginnings of many books, it was the loss of her beloved mom and the grief that followed that led her to finally finish one.

Skunk Cabbage is dedicated to her amazing and much-missed mom, Doreen Gunnink. Doreen loved Jesus, life, her family, other people, and reading. She was a bright beacon in a world often void of light. It is out of painful grief, simultaneously existing with exuberant hope for a bright future, that Jenna penned Skunk Cabbage.

Jenna holds a bachelor's in communications/writing from Grand Valley State University, a bachelor's in nursing from GVSU, and a master's degree in nursing from Kent State University. While being an author is her favorite gig, she also loves her work as a Labor & Delivery nurse at one of the top ten largest birthing units in the country, so if you're having a baby in West Michigan, feel free to reach out

If Jenna isn't weaving words for her next novel or helping someone push out a baby, you'll find her hanging out with her family (husband and four sons), running while listening to an audio book, or baking the world's best chocolate chip cookies.

Jenna strives to do everything she does to point to Jesus. She gives all the credit for any inspiration or success she has to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
